let's get into it
What
is applied
improv?
Applied improv is the use of improvisational theatre techniques outside of a performance context, typically to develop practical skills in professional or educational settings. Unlike traditional improv, which focuses on entertaining an audience, applied improv aims to help participants build skills like active listening, adaptability, teamwork, creativity, and communication.

In applied improv workshops, participants engage in exercises and activities which allow them to practice thinking on their feet, solving problems creatively, and communicating effectively in a safe and supportive environment. These techniques are particularly useful in business, education, healthcare, and social work, where flexibility and interpersonal skills are essential.
Applied improv isn’t about performing; it’s about transforming - creating space to listen, adapt, and connect, so we can thrive together in an unpredictable world.

Meet Your Facilitator

Tamith Hattingh
Director/Facilitator
With a career shaped by improv, performance, and voice work, I help teams and organisations build stronger communication, adaptability, and collaboration through applied improv. I work across corporate, educational, and personal development contexts, tailoring each session to the specific goals of the group I'm working with.

My facilitation is authentic and engaging, creating a space where teams can develop and hone real skills, including communication, quick thinking, confidence, and adaptability, in a way that's practical and immediately applicable to the workplace.

For larger groups requiring more hands on deck, I bring in additional facilitators, all equally experienced in applied improv, to ensure consistent quality regardless of group size
